🔹 What is an IGNOU Project?
An IGNOU project is a research-based academic assignment that involves collecting data, analyzing it, and presenting findings in the form of a structured dissertation or report.
🔹 What is a Project Synopsis?
A project synopsis is a proposal that outlines the topic, objectives, rationale, methodology, and bibliography of your project. It is usually around 500–1000 words or 10–14 typed pages.
🔹 How do I select a topic and prepare the synopsis?
You must choose a topic relevant to your subject area in consultation with your supervisor. The synopsis must follow the format provided in your Programme Project Guide or Handbook.
🔹 Where should I submit the synopsis?
Submit one copy of the signed synopsis to your Regional Centre or IGNOU Headquarters (if instructed). Keep an extra copy for yourself.
🔹 Who evaluates the synopsis?
The synopsis is evaluated by experts appointed by the concerned School or Discipline at IGNOU, New Delhi.
🔹 When should I submit the final project report?
Generally:
- For June TEE: Submit by 31st May
- For December TEE: Submit by 30th November
(Confirm exact dates with your Regional Centre.)
🔹 How should the project report be written?
- Typed on A4 paper, double-spaced, and properly bound
- Language: English (unless your programme permits otherwise)
- Follow the structure: Cover page, certificate, introduction, objectives, methodology, data analysis, conclusion, bibliography, and appendices
🔹 Where should I submit the project report?
Submit the final report at your Regional Centre. In some cases, online submission via the IGNOU Project Portal is also required.
🔹 What is the required length of the report?
The project report should be about 10,000 to 15,000 words (approximately 80 to 100 pages), depending on your course guidelines.
🔹 Is a viva voce required?
Yes. In most programmes, a viva voce (oral examination) is conducted at the Regional Centre and is a part of the final evaluation.
🔹 What are the passing marks for the project?
You need to score at least 40 out of 100 marks to pass the project course.
🔹 Do I need to pay a fee for the project?
Yes. As per recent guidelines:
- ₹300 for up to 4-credit project
- ₹500 for above 4-credit project
This should be paid along with the Term-End Examination (TEE) form.
🔹 Can I change my project guide?
Yes, but only with a valid reason. You must submit a fresh synopsis signed by the new guide and seek approval from the respective School or Discipline.
🔹 What if my synopsis is rejected?
You’ll receive feedback for revision. You can rework the proposal and resubmit it with a fresh approval form signed by your guide.
