MSO stands for Master of Arts in Sociology. This programme comes under School of Social Sciences (SOSS). MSO Programme is a 2 Years master degree course in India which have 4 courses in 1st Year and four courses in 2nd year. Eligible students can take admission in MSO course for both January and July admission cycle. Applicants can apply for admission in both mode i.e Online and Offline. Students can fill application form by visiting IGNOU online portal. After taking admission, IGNOU provides study material/books of their respective course as it is one of distance education course. For Term-End Exams, IGNOU released tentative MSO Exam date-sheet 30 days and MSO hall ticket 10 days before term-end Exams. The MSO Programme is designed to provide advanced sociological knowledge, perspectives and skills to a wide cross section of learners, including those in remote and inaccessible areas. In terms of content it focuses on classical and advanced concepts and theories, research methods and perspectives, social issues of development, state of sociology in India etc.
